“Home is where you are expected” – KAI opened a new dormitory

A 17-storey Student’s House of KNRTU-KAI was officially inaugurated in Kazan on September 1, 2023

The official opening of the dormitory was attended by the honored guests, including KNRTU-KAI rector Timur Alibaev, deputy director of the Department of Budget Investments of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Alexey Ogonev, deputy minister of Digital Development of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan Albert Yakovlev, deputy minister of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan Denis Lulakov, manager of the VTB bank branch in Tatarstan, vice-president Maryam Davletshina and others.

“I’m excited that this year Day of Knowledge is marked with highly anticipated event – the opening of a new Student’s House” – said Timur Alibaev during the official ceremony. – 620 of young people will live in the modern facilities in the area of city’s well-developed infrastructure, and most importantly, within walking distance of KAI educational buildings and KAI OLYMP sports center.”

The new dormitory has 113 residential blocks. Each of them has a kitchen, living room and bathroom. 24 rooms in eight blocks are provided for people with limited mobility. Moreover, Student’s House has a classroom, medical center with an isolation ward, gym, laundry room, outdoor area to lounge and parking lot. To ensure the safety of its residents, the dormitory is equipped with access systems and video surveillance.

Currently, about 12.7 thousand students are studying at KNRTU-KAI. More than 64 % are nonresident students, including almost 1,500 foreigners. Before the Student’s House was opened, about 3.2 thousand people lived in the seven dormitories of KNRTU-KAI. Now the university has the ability to accommodate about 4 thousand young people in its premises.
