KNRTU-KAI Scientists Presented Achievements In Composite In China

17.12.2018

New materials are designed to reduce the mass and cost of production of electric NEVS, developed in conjunction with the SAAB company.

On December 10-12, 2018, the experts of KNRTU-KAI represented by the Deputy Head of the Research Department Konstantin Fayzullin and the Head of the Laboratory of KNRTU-KAI "Composites Technologies" Arseny Polyaev visited the LLC Tianjin Chinese-Academy-of-Sciences Institute of Advanced Technology (TIAT), and also the factory for the production of modern electric vehicles - NEVS (National Electric Vehicle Sweden), developed jointly with SAAB.

Test production had been launched at the new plant in Tianjin, the serial production of electric sedans is excepted to start in spring, and the start of sales in China is scheduled for June. The first phase of production involves the production output of 50 thousand cars a year, and subsequently the company intends to increase the volume to 220 thousand cars and produce two new models each year. The representatives of TIAT, Dr. Wu Zhengbin personally welcomed the representatives of KNRTU-KAI.

The delegates convened a working meeting where they discussed the contract between KNRTU-KAI and TIAT. The main point of the contract was the development of design and technological solutions to reduce the mass and cost of production of an electric vehicle through the use of composite materials in the design. KNRTU-KAI scientists presented achievements  in composite materials and also presented their plans for work on this project.
