We invite you to take part in the workshop, which is aimed at raising professional competence among teachers in the context of a change in a current educative paradigm.

The workshop will be held by Martha Sidury Christiansen – a n Assistant Professor in the Department of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies, College of Education and Human Development at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She earned a Ph.D. in Foreign, Second, and Multilingual Language Education from The Ohio State University in 2013 after completing MA coursework in Rhetoric & Composition/Linguistics (2007) and a Graduate TESOL Certificate at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (2007), and a BA in English Language Teaching from the Universidad Veracruzana in Mexico (2002). Dr. Christiansen began her career as an EFL teacher in Mexico teaching various age and educational levels, and as an ESL teacher in the U.S. teaching recently arrived immigrant adolescents and adult refugees. She has also taught ESL composition to international students. All these experiences motivated her research interests in sociolinguistics and second language writing. Her research focus on transnational bilinguals and English language learners’ engagement with each other in digital spaces, exploring the intersection between literacy and language ideologies, identities, and culture. She has published and presented at state, national, and international levels.

  • 10:00-11:30 Workshop 1: Rigorous research and planning in 3 months
  • 11:40-13:00 Workshop 2: WC consultations and Multilingual tutors helping multilingual writers
  • 14:30-16:00 Individual consultations.
